Musk Surges to Trillionaire Status as SpaceX Rally Equates One-Day Gains to Buffett’s Lifetime Wealth

SpaceX, the space and artificial intelligence company, powered Elon Musk into a new financial echelon on Monday. A blistering rally in its newly listed shares propelled Musk's net worth to $1.27 trillion, marking him as the world's first trillionaire.

The single-day gain of $164 billion from SpaceX shares was significant. This massive windfall equaled more than the entire accumulated fortune of Warren Buffett, whose net worth stood at $148 billion as of June 16, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Musk's Ascent and Global Wealth Landscape

The surge cemented Musk’s dominance in the global wealth hierarchy. His newfound status places him significantly ahead of Larry Page, who is ranked as the world's second-richest person with a net worth of $314 billion.

Musk's $164 billion windfall was among the largest single-day increases recorded globally. It nearly matched the combined gains made by the other 499 individuals on Bloomberg’s billionaire ranking.

SpaceX Reaches Multibillion Dollar Valuation

The stock surge followed a strong post-listing performance for SpaceX, which debuted on Wall Street on June 12. In its first two trading sessions, the company has gained approximately 42%.

This rally boosted SpaceX's market capitalization to $2.1 trillion. The valuation now ranks it as the world's sixth most valuable company. It is positioned ahead of companies such as Saudi Aramco, TSMC, Tesla, and Broadcom.

Record Day for Global Billionaires

The strong performance of Musk’s wealth also drove a record day for the planet’s wealthiest individuals. The 500 richest people collectively added $336 billion to their fortunes by market close in New York.

This massive increase brought the combined net worth of these individuals up to a record $13.3 trillion.

Indian Billionaires Ranked Amidst Global Wealth Concentration

Within the ranks of billionaires, two prominent Indian figures were highlighted. Gautam Adani ranked 17th among the world's richest with a net worth of $115 billion.

Mukesh Ambani was also featured in the ranking, securing the 25th position with $87 billion in net worth.

Wealth Concentration Highlights Growing Divide

Musk’s rapidly growing fortune underscores the widening economic disparity between the ultra-rich and the rest of society. The data also indicates a pronounced divide within the billionaire class itself.

The top 50 richest people control $6.5 trillion in wealth. This amount nearly matches the $6.8 trillion held by the remaining 450 members of Bloomberg’s billionaire ranking.
