Mahanagar Gas Assures Uninterrupted PNG Supply, Announces Incentives for New Users Amid LPG Concerns

Mumbai, March 24: As liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) users grapple with challenges linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict, piped natural gas provider Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) on Tuesday assured consumers of uninterrupted supply while unveiling a series of limited-period incentives aimed at expanding its customer base.

Free Gas and Discounts for New Residential Users

In a move to encourage adoption of piped natural gas (PNG), MGL announced that all new domestic registrations between March 16 and April 30 will be eligible for free gas worth ₹500.

Additionally, customers in newly connected residential buildings with a penetration level exceeding 60 percent will receive an adjustment of ₹1,000 in their gas bills, further enhancing the value proposition for early adopters.

The company is also offering:

  • ₹500 instant discount for customers registering via its web platform
  • Waiver of minimum charges during periods of non-usage
  • Plans to introduce zero upfront registration charges, where customers will pay only after conversion

Relief Measures for Commercial Customers

For commercial users, MGL has waived registration charges for PNG connections. The company also stated that it will undertake downstream infrastructure development at its own cost, easing the onboarding process for businesses.

Commitment to Reliable Gas Supply

Reaffirming its operational readiness, MGL Managing Director Ashu Shinghal said the company remains focused on ensuring seamless delivery of both PNG and compressed natural gas (CNG).

"We remain committed to seamless delivery of PNG and CNG and are working continuously to enhance our efforts to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers," he said.

Expanding Infrastructure and Service Reach

MGL highlighted its ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and customer engagement to maintain consistent and reliable supply. The company currently serves multiple regions including Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Chitradurg, Davengere, Latur, and Dharashiv.

The utility emphasized that these measures are designed to ensure customers continue receiving safe, reliable, and uninterrupted fuel supply for daily use, even amid external uncertainties impacting the LPG market.
