Makmor Signs LoI with MD Aircraft GmbH to Acquire 10 MDA1 eViator Electric Regional Aircraft

Mumbai, February 25 Makmor, a Bengaluru-headquartered business management consulting firm, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a letter of intent with MD Aircraft GmbH to acquire 10 electric regional passenger aircraft, aiming to tap into the rising demand for regional air travel in India.

One of the First Structured Commitments for MDA1 eViator

The agreement marks one of the first structured fleet commitments for the nine-seater, all-electric short take-off and landing passenger aircraft, the MDA1 eViator.

According to Makmor, the aircraft is designed to operate from shorter regional airstrips while offering significantly lower operating costs and near-zero emissions. The platform is positioned to address the operational challenges of regional connectivity by combining sustainability with cost efficiency.

Flight Testing by 2028, Entry into Service by 2030

Initial flight tests for the MDA1 eViator are targeted for 2028. Certification and entry into service are planned for 2030.

Makmor stated that the deal positions India as a potential early growth market for zero-emission regional air mobility. With hundreds of underutilized airstrips and increasing demand for connectivity across tier-2 and tier-3 cities, the company sees strong potential for electric regional aircraft in the country.

Focus on Transformational Regional Aviation

Ravi Andrews, Founder of Makmor, said India’s next phase of aviation growth will be transformational rather than incremental. He noted that electric regional aircraft offer a practical opportunity to reduce operating costs while significantly cutting emissions.

Gregor Miller, CEO of MD Aircraft GmbH, said the letter of intent reflects growing global confidence in practical and certifiable electric regional aircraft. He added that there is strong alignment between India’s regional connectivity goals and the operating economics and sustainability profile of the MDA1 eViator.

The agreement underscores increasing interest in zero-emission aviation solutions as India seeks to expand regional air mobility while addressing cost and environmental considerations.
