Market Cap Surge: Nine Top-10 Giants Jump as Bajaj Finance Leads Massive ₹2.51 Lakh Crore Rally

Markets staged a strong rebound last week, recovering from recent losing streaks fueled by easing crude oil prices, improving geopolitical sentiment, encouraging Q1 FY27 earnings, and renewed foreign institutional investor (FII) buying. The combined market valuation of nine of the top-10 most valued firms witnessed a significant jump of ₹2.51 lakh crore.

The benchmark indices reflected this strong sentiment rally. BSE Sensex climbed 2,034.87 points, recording a 2.67 per cent increase. Simultaneously, NSE Nifty surged 616.15 points, marking a robust climb of 2.59 per cent.

Bajaj Finance Drives Massive Sectoral Rally

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) saw exceptional performance from NBFCs. Shares of Bajaj Finance ended over 8 per cent higher on Friday. This surge followed the company's announcement of a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rise of 28 per cent year-on-year for the June quarter of FY27.

The market valuation of Bajaj Finance saw the most substantial increase among the top-10 firms, surging by ₹80,345.97 crore to reach a total valuation of ₹7,10,817.51 crore. This move highlighted strong investor confidence in the finance sector's growth trajectory.

Major Gains Across Top-10 Market Leaders

Several other stalwarts saw their market capitalisation (mcap) dramatically improve. Bharti Airtel's valuation soared by ₹44,959.5 crore, reaching ₹12,30,005.63 crore. TCS's mcap jumped by ₹40,414.03 crore to stand at ₹8,55,894.78 crore.

Reliance Industries also witnessed a massive valuation increase, climbing by ₹39,447.35 crore and hitting a market cap of ₹17,69,108.79 crore. Larsen & Toubro rallied by ₹21,096.8 crore, boosting its mcap to ₹5,41,844.69 crore.

Banking and Insurance Sectors See Significant Uplift

The financial services segment was particularly buoyant. State Bank of India's mcap edged higher by ₹10,845.97 crore, reaching ₹9,47,799.81 crore. HDFC Bank advanced by ₹8,164.73 crore to achieve a market value of ₹11,52,150.63 crore.

LIC also saw its valuation rise, increasing by ₹4,427.49 crore to reach ₹5,37,435.05 crore. ICICI Bank climbed by ₹1,660.37 crore to secure a market capitalization of ₹10,29,878.30 crore.

Hindustan Unilever Emerges as Sole Laggard

While the sector experienced broad-based strength, Hindustan Unilever (HUL) stood out as the only laggard among the top-10 firms. Its mcap declined by ₹10,326.46 crore, ending at ₹4,93,602.13 crore.

The complete ranking of the most valued companies remains led by Reliance Industries, followed closely by Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, LIC, and Hindustan Unilever. This performance confirms a period of heightened risk appetite in the market.
