Premium craft chocolate maker Manam Chocolate has announced a significant milestone, raising $9 million (around Rs 77 crore) in a successful Series A funding round. The investment comes from agrifood-focused venture capital firm Omnivore and includes the participation of Turner Morrison, an existing investor in the company.

The Hyderabad-based startup intends to deploy this fresh capital toward accelerating its ambitious expansion plans. Over the next twelve months, Manam Chocolate aims to launch new retail locations specifically within the Delhi-NCR region.

##Strengthening India’s Bean-to-Bar Narrative

Manam Chocolate is built upon an integrated bean-to-bar model that spans the entire value chain. This deep control covers cacao sourcing, fermentation, chocolate manufacturing, and direct consumer retailing. Founder Chaitanya Muppala stated that this investment marks a crucial step in their mission to build a globally respected Indian craft chocolate company rooted deeply in origin.

The brand operates through multiple experiential retail formats. Current outlets include the flagship store at Eldeco Centre in Saket, New Delhi, the Manam Chocolate Karkhana in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills, and the Manam Chocolate Beverage Bar in Knowledge City.

##Deep Roots: Sourcing and Supply Chain Integrity

The company’s commitment to origin is backed by a robust supply chain managed through its parent company, Distinct Origins Pvt Ltd. This entity works directly with over 250 farmers who cultivate more than 3,000 acres of cacao farms located in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district.

Distinct Origins also operates a major cacao fermentery in Tadikalapudi, which the company emphasizes is among the largest globally. By controlling the entire process from cultivation to finished product, Manam ensures unparalleled quality and traceability.

##Market Position and Strategic Growth Plans

Manam Chocolate has strongly positioned itself as a premium craft chocolate brand focused exclusively on Indian-origin cacao. The company offers an extensive portfolio, boasting over 300 products across more than 50 different categories. Its dedication to excellence is evidenced by multiple international awards received, including recognition from the Academy of Chocolate Awards and the International Chocolate Awards.

Reihem Roy, a partner at Omnivore, commented on the significance of the brand's model. He noted that premium consumer brands possessing farmer-linked supply chains are uniquely positioned to create significant value right at the farm level while simultaneously developing differentiated products.

The funding wave aligns with a growing trend of investor interest directed towards premium food and beverage brands. These investors favor companies that maintain control over their sourcing and manufacturing while successfully engaging consumers through experiential retail and online channels.
