L&T GeoStructure, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has secured several significant orders across India, spanning major infrastructure projects, marine development, and inland water transport facilities. The recent acquisitions include the company’s largest piling order to date from JSW Utkal Steel Ltd, a subsidiary of JSW Steel. This critical project is located at the 10 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant in Paradeep, Odisha, and involves nine major packages. The scope of work includes vital structures such as the Blast Furnace, Hot Strip Mill, and Steel Melting Shop, requiring approximately 30 lakh running metres of piling works to be executed under a stringent timeline.
In addition to the steel plant mandate, the business has secured two separate orders from the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). These contracts involve the engineering, procurement, and construction of Ship Repair Facilities (SRF) at Patna and Varanasi. These state-of-the-art facilities, planned for Bihar and Uttar Pradesh respectively, will incorporate advanced Ship Lift and Transfer Systems, including an 800-tonne boat hoist. The projects are set to strengthen the inland water transport ecosystem along National Waterway-1, the River Ganga.
Furthermore, L&T GeoStructure has been awarded the contract for constructing India's first yacht marina at Mumbai Harbour by the Mumbai Port Authority. This project is designed to feature an approach trestle, piled breakwater, service platforms, concrete pontoons, and gangways.
