L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions Secures Limited Notice to Proceed for 1,600 MW Thermal Power Plant Order from NTPC Ltd
Larsen & Toubro Energy CarbonLite Solutions has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from NTPC Ltd. This notice relates to the main plant package for the 2x800 MW Lara Stage-III thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. The project requires environmental clearance before the LNTP period can be fully commenced.The contract involves constructing two state-of-the-art 800 MW ultra-supercritical generating units. L&T's scope of work covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Boilers, Steam Turbines, Generators, Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs), Air Cooled Condensers (ACC) and their auxiliaries. The scope also includes associated mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation and civil works.
The construction tasks will be executed on an EPC basis utilizing ultra-supercritical technology. This approach is expected to offer higher efficiency and lower specific emissions once the plant is commissioned. Upon completion, the facility will contribute 1,600 MW of reliable baseload generation capacity to India's grid, supporting the country's electricity demand driven by urbanisation, industrial expansion, and infrastructure development.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr T Madhava Das, Whole-time Director, Sr. Executive Vice President and Head of Energy Hydrocarbon Division at L&T, stated that this award marks the third ultra-supercritical project secured from NTPC in the last two years. He noted that the contract reflects the trust India's largest power utility places in L&T’s engineering, manufacturing, and project execution capabilities. Mr Das added that the company remains committed to executing the project with high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence, building upon their deep expertise in delivering critical large-scale projects for the nation's energy infrastructure.
