KP Group Achieves Milestone Installing 'Make in India' 4.2 MW Wind Turbine in South Gujarat

KP Group has set a significant milestone in India's renewable energy sector, becoming the first company to install the 4.2 MW wind turbine generator (4.2M160). Manufactured by Senvion India, this installation marks a major advancement in adopting next-generation wind technology under the 'Make in India' initiative.

The 4.2M160 turbine, which is part of Senvion's new generation 4XM platform, was installed by KP Group in South Gujarat. The unit is specifically engineered to perform effectively within Indian wind conditions and site requirements.

Technology and Performance

The 4.2M160 unit features a substantial rated capacity of 4.2 MW, a 160-meter rotor diameter, and a 140-meter hub height. This design allows the turbine to maximize energy capture, particularly in low-to-medium wind regimes. Its larger swept area, advanced control systems, and site-optimized design contribute to higher generation output, improved efficiency, and enhanced long-term value.

The underlying 4XM platform is noteworthy for its modular architecture. This design facilitates efficient transportation, faster installation, and streamlined commissioning, while also improving serviceability and operational reliability. Further bolstering its domestic credentials, the platform is engineered and manufactured in India with over 85% localization and was included in the ALMM in December 2025.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

Dr. Faruk Patel, Chairman & Managing Director, commented on the development, stating that the installation of the 'Make in India' 4.2 MW M160 wind turbine in South Gujarat reinforces KP Group's commitment to adopting advanced, next-generation technologies. He added that these technologies enhance generation efficiency, optimize lifecycle performance, and deliver long-term value. This milestone further solidifies the group's standing as a reliable partner in executing scalable and high-performance renewable energy solutions, thereby contributing significantly to India's transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

KP Group, established in 1994 by Dr. Faruk G. Patel, has developed into a diversified conglomerate. Over the past three decades, the group has maintained core expertise in renewable energy, infrastructure, and innovation. It has spearheaded transformative projects in wind, solar, hybrid energy, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and green hydrogen, solidifying its contribution to India's green energy mission.
