KNR Constructions Limited, through its joint venture M/s KNR SIML, has received a Letter of Acceptance for extensive coal mining works awarded by South Eastern Coalfields Limited. The contract, which spans 2920 days at Kusmunda OCP in Chhattisgarh, is valued at Rs 3,361.11 crores, exclusive of GST.The joint venture, M/s KNR SIML, is a partnership comprising KNR Constructions Ltd (51%) and Sushee Infra & Mining Limited (49%). The work encompasses various stages of coal mining operations within the Kusmunda Open Cast Project in Chhattisgarh.
The scope of work includes several specialized jobs related to overburden removal, surface mining, and coal transportation at the Kusmunda OC Exp Project. These include:
- Soft Soil Excavation: Hiring HEMM for excavating soft soil above coal seams D, E & F, UK, LK, and LK(B).
- Hard Strata Excavation: Utilizing HEMM (including drilling) to excavate hard strata and overburden above the specified coal seams. The total Overburden material quantity is noted at 258,157,839 Cum over the project duration.
- Surface Mining: Mechanical excavation and cutting of coal/coal measure strata for a Quantity of 142,887,024 Te of Coal with a minimum TPD of 48,934.
- Coal Loading and Transportation: Operations include mechanical loading of coal into tippers from various seams, followed by the hiring of tippers for transportation to designated points such as TRS-1, TRS-2, Gevra Railway siding, and NK-2 siding.
