Jio Payments Bank Ignites Mobility Revolution by Launching Barrierless Tolling at Rajasthan's Major Corridor

Jio Payments Bank Limited (JPBL) has achieved a significant milestone in India's mobility infrastructure. The bank, a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services, has commenced operations for toll collection under the Fastag Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)-based Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) project. This transformative rollout is taking place at the Manoharpura Fee Plaza on National Highway 48 in Rajasthan.

The integration of MLFF technology ensures that vehicles can pass through the plaza without requiring a stop. The system combines both ANPR and RFID technologies, enabling automatic processing of user fees as vehicles move continuously.

Accelerating India's Transportation Ecosystem

This strategic commencement follows a contract awarded by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL). This contract was given in October 2025 to manage toll processing for the pilot MLFF project. The scope covers both the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura toll plazas, which are crucial parts of the Gurugram-Jaipur corridor.

The Manoharpura plaza alone is anticipated to handle nearly 8.8 million vehicles in a single year. JPBL's managed connected corridor spans 100 km from Shahjahanpur to Manoharpura, along with an additional 34 km between Manoharpura and Daulatpur.

Transforming Mobility Payments Management

The move toward barrierless tolling signals a massive operational upgrade for India’s infrastructure management. Vinod Easwaran, Managing Director and CEO of Jio Payments Bank, highlighted the importance of this step. He stated that the commencement of MLFF operations at Manoharpura marks an important milestone in JPBL's expanding role within India’s mobility payments ecosystem.

Easwaran added that the transition to barrierless tolling represents a transformative shift. This shift fundamentally changes how mobility infrastructure is monetised and managed across the nation.

Strategic Partnerships Drive Digital Transformation

The successful execution of this project relies on robust partnerships between key entities. JPBL has teamed up with Jio Platforms Limited, which serves as the central project manager for the initiative. Tecsidel India Private Limited has been instrumental in deploying both the core software architecture and advanced instrumentation required for MLFF operation.

Debasish Debsikdar, Senior Vice President and Business Unit Head - Transportation, Traffic & Tolling at Jio Platforms, provided strategic context to the rollout. He emphasized that India's transition towards MLFF tolling is far more than a mere technology upgrade.

Debsikdar stated that it represents a strategic national transformation. This initiative aligns directly with the Government of India's vision for building an efficient, globally competitive and digitally connected transportation ecosystem.
