India Defence Exports Hit Record ₹38,424 Crore in FY26, Surge 62.66% Year-on-Year​

New Delhi, April 2: India’s defence exports climbed to a record high of ₹38,424 crore in the financial year 2025-26, registering a sharp 62.66 percent increase compared to ₹23,622 crore in the previous fiscal, according to an official government statement released on Thursday.

DPSUs and Private Sector Drive Export Growth​

Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) accounted for 54.84 percent of total exports, while the private sector contributed 45.16 percent, reflecting a balanced participation across the industry.

In value terms, DPSUs exported ₹21,071 crore worth of defence equipment, a significant jump from ₹8,389 crore in the previous financial year, marking a 151 percent rise. Meanwhile, private sector exports stood at ₹17,353 crore, up 14 percent from ₹15,233 crore recorded in FY25.

Expanding Global Reach Across 80+ Countries​

India’s defence products reached over 80 countries during FY26, underlining the country’s expanding global footprint in the sector. The number of defence exporters also increased to 145 from 128 in the previous fiscal, reflecting a 13.3 percent growth.

The government highlighted that India is increasingly being recognised as a reliable supplier of defence systems and sub-systems, with growing integration into global supply chains.

Government Push Strengthens Defence Manufacturing Ecosystem​

The Defence Ministry stated that the milestone aligns with the broader vision of positioning India among the world’s leading defence exporters. Continuous policy support, improved ease of doing business, and targeted efforts to facilitate exporters have contributed to building a competitive and performance-driven ecosystem.

Defence Minister Applauds Sector Performance​

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Department of Defence Production, defence exporters, and all stakeholders for the strong performance. He noted that the country is steadily progressing towards becoming a global manufacturing hub for defence equipment.

In a post on X, Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is witnessing a strong and consistent rise in defence exports, reflecting the sector’s growing capabilities and global acceptance.
