Mandaviya Stresses Need for Greater Female Contribution in National Decision-Making​

Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the critical need for women's increased involvement across India’s economy, politics, and decision-making structures. He stated that strengthening women's contribution is paramount to achieving the ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Speaking at the 5th NAREDCO Mahi Real Estate Convention, Mandaviya highlighted the governmental efforts made over the last twelve years toward women empowerment. The Minister pointed to the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament as a significant step taken by the government for this cause.

Mandaviya reiterated that Indian women have historically played an invaluable role in nation-building. He stressed that it is the current necessity for women to contribute more actively to India's economic health and political landscape.

Industry urged to Facilitate Women’s Home Ownership​

Former Union minister Smriti Irani addressed the association's Women wing, NREDCO-Mahi, emphasizing their role in helping women realize their potential through property ownership. She stated that it is essential for women to gain direct access to the housing finance ecosystem to ensure they can successfully own properties.

Irani also called upon industry stakeholders to significantly increase the participation of women within the real estate sector itself. This focus aligns with the broader drive toward holistic national development, which includes economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

NAREDCO Mahi President Smita Patil spoke about the initiatives undertaken by the women's wing. These programs are designed to bolster female involvement in the industry while promoting sustainable practices such as green buildings and water conservation.

Square Yards Introduces Green Living Index to Measure Sustainable Housing​

The event saw the release of a new industry measure, the 'Square Yards Green Living Index', developed by real estate consultant Square Yards. This index provides a comprehensive 100-point scoring model designed to evaluate housing projects effectively.

The evaluation criteria cover several key areas, including resource efficiency and connectivity. Furthermore, the index meticulously assesses health and comfort, alongside safety and resilience of any proposed construction project.

Vivek Aggarwal, Co-founder & CTO of Square Yards, stressed that sustainability initiatives cannot gain mainstream traction unless they become measurable and easily understandable for consumers. This move is set to drive a more conscientious approach across the real estate development ecosystem.
