
Domestic Energy Security Assured Amid Global Uncertainty
Despite global uncertainties affecting critical waterways like the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian government has strongly assured sustained energy supply across the nation. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that 100 per cent supply is being maintained for domestic LPG, PNG, and CNG.The Ministry confirmed the availability of adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG throughout the country. It reported that no dry-outs have been detected at any LPG distributorships, guaranteeing essential services remain uninterrupted.
Infrastructure Growth and Key Commercial Highlights
On the infrastructure front, the utilization of clean fuels saw notable increases. Online LPG bookings registered a significant rise, reaching 98 per cent. The administration highlighted that over 1 lakh 31 thousand metric tonnes of Commercial LPG has been sold since the 14th of last month.Efforts to support vulnerable populations were also noted, with the sale of 5 kilogram Free Trade LPG cylinders valued at over ₹14 lakh rupees since the 23rd of last month for migrant workers.
Expanding clean energy access, over 4 lakh PNG connections have been activated since March. Furthermore, nearly 4.88 lakh more consumers have registered for new PNG connections, signaling strong domestic growth in piped natural gas adoption.
Seafarer Safety and Diplomatic Coordination
Concerns over regional instability did not impede critical operational areas. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed that port operations across India remain normal, with no congestion reported.Crucially, the Ministry stated that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, accounting for the successful repatriation of over 2,200 personnel so far.
Diplomatically, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Indian missions across West Asia remain on high alert, operating round-the-clock helplines. In a coordinated effort, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held discussions with counterparts from Kuwait, Israel, Singapore, and Australia. The purpose of these talks was to review regional developments and ensure the safety of Indian nationals.
Since late February, the cumulative flow of passengers traveling from the affected region to India reached around 9.55 lakh individuals. The Ministry confirmed that evacuation and transit arrangements are being diligently facilitated through multiple countries, depending on evolving airspace conditions.
