Iconic Institution Flurys Expands into North India with New Café Launch in Gurugram

Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited (ASPHL) has announced a significant expansion of its iconic bakery and confectionery brand, Flurys, marking the opening of its first standalone café in Gurugram. This launch solidifies Flurys' growing presence in North India, with plans for additional Tea Rooms and cafés across Delhi and other regions.

The new café is located at Galleria Market in Gurugram, Haryana. The launch represents a key milestone as the nearly century-old brand continues to evolve while maintaining its traditional recipes and warmth.

Founded in 1927 on Kolkata's Park Street by Swiss couple Joseph and Frieda Flury, Flurys introduced generations of Indians to European café culture and refined patisserie. The brand is approaching its centenary in 2027 and remains committed to the heritage that has defined it since its inception.

The café offers patrons a range of classic delights alongside contemporary offerings. Signature items include the Rum Ball, Chicken Patty, Chocolate Boat, and Buttercream Cubes. French classics like Millefeuille, Opera, and Paris-Brest are also available, alongside celebration cakes. A special feature is the Nolen Gur Crème Brûlée in a Bhanr, which combines classic technique with Bengal's prized date-palm jaggery.

The beverage menu features Flurys' signature Viennese Coffee, handcrafted teas, cold brews, frappes, and the Chilled Coffee Sprüngli, referencing the brand’s Swiss origins. Designed as a 24-hour neighbourhood destination, the 16-seater space is designed to be warm and welcoming, accented with archival photographs commemorating Flurys' Park Street heritage.

Focus on Heritage and Growth

Speaking about the expansion, Ms. Priya Paul, Chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, stated that "The world's most enduring brands are those that become part of people's lives," adding that As Flurys enters new cities, their goal is not just to grow its footprint but "to preserve the character and authenticity" that made it an enduring institution.

Mr. Vijay Dewan, Managing Director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd, highlighted that Gurugram marks a significant milestone in the company’s North India expansion strategy. He emphasized the continued commitment to preserving the heritage and warm hospitality of Flurys since 1927 as more tea rooms and cafés are planned across Delhi and other parts of India.

Mr. Rohit Kakra, COO of Flurys, mentioned that every café is designed "to feel familiar from the very first visit." He expressed excitement to introduce this experience to Gurugram and establish the location as a neighbourhood destination for the city.
