Hindalco Clarifies Aluminium Extrusion Operations Continue Normally Amid Supply Concerns

Company Says Customer Communication Was Routine Notification After Gas Suppliers Declared Force Majeure

New Delhi, March 15
Hindalco Industries on Sunday clarified that it has not halted operations of its aluminium extrusion business, stating that a recent communication sent to customers was a routine notification about a potential supply disruption following force majeure declarations by certain gas suppliers.

The company said the communication was issued as part of standard business practice and does not indicate any shutdown of its aluminium extrusion operations.

Limited Impact Confined to Small Segment

Hindalco stated that evolving geopolitical developments affecting global trade and the economy have not impacted the company’s overall operations or financial performance.

According to the company, any potential disruption is limited to a small portion of its aluminium extrusions business.

“The communication issued to aluminium extrusions customers follows a force majeure declaration by certain gas suppliers and was a routine business notification regarding a potential supply disruption in a segment of the extrusions business,” the company said in a statement.

The aluminium extrusion segment accounts for a very small share of Hindalco’s total production capacity, with any possible impact confined to less than 0.1 percent of the company’s overall operations.

Other Operations Running Normally

Hindalco confirmed that all other upstream and downstream operations continue to function normally. This includes primary aluminium production, which remains unaffected due to the company’s captive power facilities and alternate energy arrangements.

The company also said its core aluminium smelting operations continue to run without disruption as these facilities are powered by coal-based captive power plants, ensuring operational stability.

Aluminium Extrusions Used Across Multiple Industries

Aluminium extrusions are widely used across several industries because of their lightweight, high-strength, and corrosion-resistant characteristics.

They are commonly applied in architectural framing, transportation systems, automotive components, heat sinks used in electronics, and structural parts for solar energy installations.

Hindalco manufactures a broad range of customised aluminium extrusions using 100 percent premium quality billets that are produced internally.

Integrated Aluminium Value Chain

Hindalco operates across the full aluminium value chain, including bauxite mining, alumina refining, coal mining, captive power generation, aluminium smelting, and downstream activities such as rolling, extrusion, and foil production.

Together with its subsidiary Novelis, the company is a global leader in flat rolled aluminium products and the world’s largest recycler of aluminium.
