Hero MotoCorp commits over Rs 3,200 crore investment as it establishes Global Parts Centre in Tirupati

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has marked a significant milestone with the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for its second Global Parts Centre (GPC) in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. This facility represents an investment exceeding Rs 750 crores as part of a cumulative roadmap commitment of over Rs 3,200 crores across the state.

The investment is set to position Tirupati as a leading hub for electric mobility and manufacturing, strengthening Hero MotoCorp's global supply chain within India’s automotive and EV ecosystem.

Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, stated that the foundation stone laying reflects deep confidence in India’s future and Andhra Pradesh's vision for growth. He noted that the milestone held significance as a tribute to his father, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, whose belief in building enduring institutions guided the commitment.

The upcoming Global Parts Centre will serve as a strategic nerve centre for domestic and international spare parts operations. The company confirmed that 100% of its electric vehicle portfolio is designed, engineered, and manufactured at the Tirupati plant. With this investment, the plant's annual production capacity is expected to scale aggressively to 1.2-1.5 million units.

Economic Catalyst and Job Creation

The expansion projects around 4,000 employment opportunities in the region. This job creation aligns with national visions for development and supports the industrial economy of Rayalaseema. The establishment of the Global Parts Centre is intended to further establish Tirupati as a premier manufacturing and logistics hub.

Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, highlighted that Hero MotoCorp’s investment endorses the state's progressive policies and investor-friendly ecosystem. He noted that the company’s presence has generated thousands of jobs and strengthened local supply chains across Rayalaseema and Andhra Pradesh.

Focus on Community Empowerment

In addition to the infrastructure development, Hero MotoCorp announced two transformative community initiatives in partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh:

  • Education: The 'Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal Heroes of Tomorrow Scholarship' program will provide full tuition coverage for meritorious students pursuing engineering degrees at state IIITs across 28 districts.
  • Safety and Mobility: The company will deploy VIDA electric scooters and conduct specialized road safety training for women police personnel in the Tirupati district, fostering empowerment through sustainable mobility.
