GPT Infraprojects Emerges L1 for ₹1,201.4 Crore Rail-Road Bridge Project in Varanasi, Secures ₹480.6 Crore Share

Kolkata, January 29, 2026: GPT Infraprojects Limited (BSE: 533761, NSE: GPTINFRA) has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for a large-scale infrastructure project valued at ₹1,201.4 crore, strengthening its order book in the transportation infrastructure segment.
The project has been awarded to a joint venture between GPT Infraprojects and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), with GPT holding a 40 percent stake. This translates into an order value of approximately ₹480.6 crore attributable to GPT Infraprojects.

Project Scope and Execution Details​

The contract involves the design and construction of a new rail-cum-road bridge across the River Ganga near Kashi Railway Station in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The bridge will be constructed around 50 metres downstream of the existing Malviya Bridge and is designed as a critical multi-modal connectivity asset for the region.
The scope includes:
  • Construction of Bridge No. 11 with substructure and superstructure
  • Eight spans of 108.5 metres and two spans of 103.3 metres using open web steel girders
  • Four railway tracks on the lower deck
  • Six-lane road carriageway on the upper deck
  • Railway and road approaches
  • Associated overhead electrification and general electrical works
The project will be executed for the Northern Railway under its Lucknow Division and is expected to significantly ease congestion while improving rail and road connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
