Budget 2026 Focuses on Healthcare Expansion and Rural Employment​

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced that the government will establish a nationwide network of more than 1,000 accredited clinical trial sites, marking a major push to expand India’s healthcare research infrastructure beyond major metropolitan centres.

At present, most large clinical trial facilities are concentrated in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The proposed expansion aims to widen access and strengthen India’s overall clinical research ecosystem.

Credit-Linked Subsidy for Livestock Farmer Producer Organisations​

As part of the Budget proposals, the finance minister also introduced a credit-linked subsidy programme designed to support livestock farmer producer organisations. The initiative is intended to encourage collective farming models while creating new employment opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas.

Bharat Vistar AI Tool and Launch of ‘She Marts’​

In her Budget speech, Sitharaman announced the launch of Bharat Vistar, a multilingual artificial intelligence tool that will integrate the agri stack to support agriculture-related services and data access.

She also proposed the establishment of She Marts, which will operate as community-owned retail outlets. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in economic activity while leveraging technology for inclusive growth.
