Gold Prices Hold Firm as Investors Await Crucial US CPI Data: Check Latest Rates for 24K and Silver

Bullion prices remain stable in early trade on August 13, as global investors maintain a wait-and-see approach. The markets are keenly anticipating major macroeconomic triggers that will shape future purchasing decisions. International spot gold traded slightly down, while silver also showed marginal decline during the morning session.

Global Bullion Market Update

The movement of precious metals seen on Comex reflects cautious trading as the market digests recent global cues. International spot gold traded 0.02 percent lower, settling at $4,466.40 per ounce. Silver prices saw a slight dip of 0.34 percent, closing the morning trade at $65.47 per ounce.

Domestic Gold and Silver Rates

The domestic market activity concluded with stable rates across major metropolitan areas. The local spot gold closed on Wednesday (August 12) at ₹1,52,939 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price of silver held steady in the domestic segment, recorded at ₹2,38,008 per kilogram.

Key Focus on US CPI Data and Rate Outlook

The coming week is earmarked by the release of crucial US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. This economic indicator is paramount as it directly influences the Federal Reserve’s future policy stance. The market is closely watching how inflation data will affect expectations regarding the path of interest rates.

A soft reading in the CPI could provide strong support to gold prices, potentially boosting investor confidence. Conversely, if the US reports a higher-than-expected CPI, it may trigger profit booking, potentially driven by a stronger dollar and elevated yields.
