
Budget Presentation in Parliament
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 in the Lok Sabha today. Following the presentation in the Lower House, a copy of the Budget will also be tabled in the Rajya Sabha. This marks the third Budget of the Narendra Modi government in its third term.Extensive Pre-Budget Consultations
Ahead of the Budget preparation, the Finance Minister conducted a series of pre-Budget consultation meetings with a wide range of stakeholders. These included representatives from trade unions, education and health sectors, MSMEs, trade and services, industry, the financial sector, capital markets, and economists.In parallel, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held extensive consultations focused on agriculture and rural development. A compiled report of suggestions from these discussions was submitted to the Finance Minister as part of the Budget formulation process.
Ninth Consecutive Budget by Sitharaman
Finance Minister Sitharaman is presenting her ninth consecutive Union Budget since assuming office in 2019, setting a record. In her Budget speech, she is outlining the government’s revenue and expenditure plans for the next financial year.The Union Budget 2026-27 is expected to lay out the government’s economic roadmap for the coming year, with emphasis on growth, employment generation, and fiscal stability. Inputs from citizens, including youth, were gathered through various platforms during the preparation phase and are expected to be reflected in the Budget.
Budget Documents and Post-Speech Engagement
After the completion of the Budget speech in Parliament, the Budget documents will be made available on the Union Budget Mobile App and the official website. Following the presentation, the Finance Minister will interact with around thirty college students from different regions of the country.The Budget session of Parliament began on January 28 and will continue until April 2.
