Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DPIL) has announced the successful commissioning of its eighth Medium Voltage (MV) / Extra High Voltage (EHV) Power Cable Production Line at its advanced manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. This milestone strengthens the Company's capabilities in the technologically intensive segment of MV and EHV underground power cables.

The production lines are crucial for manufacturing cables used across various critical infrastructure sectors, including power transmission networks, power generation projects, renewable energy evacuation systems, urban underground distribution networks, metro rail systems, airports, data centers, and industrial infrastructure.

DPIL stated that the Company is actively expanding its capacity. Two additional MV/EHV lines are currently under installation and commissioning. These new units are expected to become operational on or before March 31, 2027. Upon the successful completion of these expansions, DPIL will operate a total of 10 MV/EHV lines at its Vadodara facility.

Industry Outlook for Cable Segment​

The demand within India for MV and EHV underground power cables is continuously being driven by significant investments in power transmission and distribution infrastructure. Furthermore, the growing emphasis on renewable energy integration and urban underground cabling projects continues to boost market requirements.

The MV and EHV cable segment requires highly advanced testing infrastructure and stringent quality standards, positioning it as a technology-intensive manufacturing sector with substantial entry barriers for new participants.

Management Perspective​

Ms. Nivedita Pandya, Vice President -Projects at Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited, commented on the development, noting that the commissioning of the eighth MV/EHV Line represents an important milestone in the Company's expansion program.

She added that this additional capacity significantly strengthens DPIL’s ability to meet the escalating demands from utilities, power generation projects, renewable energy evacuation systems, and urban underground power transmission networks. With two further lines underway, DPIL is committed to strengthening its position within the MV and EHV cable segment.
