AI to Drive India’s Transformation into a Global Knowledge Hub

New Delhi, February 17: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has called upon India’s youth to fully leverage the potential of Artificial Intelligence, asserting that AI will play a decisive role in shaping the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing participants at the AI Impact Summit, the minister emphasized that the next generation must deepen its engagement with AI, strengthen collaboration, and actively explore the vast opportunities emerging from the technology. He urged students, innovators, and professionals to view AI as a transformative force rather than a disruptive threat.

AI as a Strategic Opportunity for Multilingual and Multicultural India

Highlighting India’s unique social fabric, Pradhan said the country’s multi-dimensional, multicultural, and multilingual character, coupled with its rich historical legacy, presents a significant opportunity for AI-driven innovation.

He noted that Artificial Intelligence can serve as a powerful tool to better understand and navigate the complexities inherent in such diversity.

“AI is giving us an important opportunity. We have a multi-dimensional, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual society with a rich history and legacy. AI can be an important tool in understanding its complexity and multi-dimensionality,” he said.

Call for Collaboration Among Universities, Startups and Industry

The Education Minister encouraged young Indians to deepen their understanding of AI technologies and embrace the transformation underway across sectors. He stressed that there is no reason to fear AI, urging universities, startups, and large corporations to collaborate in building a unified national vision powered by technology.

“There is no reason to fear it. Let universities, startups, and large companies come together to create a grand vision. In the coming days, driven by youth, India will emerge as a global knowledge center led by AI,” Pradhan said.

AI Key to Achieving Developed India by 2047

Reaffirming India’s long-term national goal, Pradhan stated that the country has set a collective target of becoming a developed economy by 2047. He underlined that Artificial Intelligence will be a key pathway in realizing this ambition.

“We have a collective target that by 2047, India has to collectively realize the vision for a developed economy, and AI is the path to achieve that,” he said.

With Artificial Intelligence increasingly shaping industries, governance, and education, the minister’s message placed youth at the center of India’s AI-led transformation and its broader development agenda.
