Delhi High Court Orders Kent RO to Pull Down Disparaging Ads Targeting Urban Company's Water Purifiers
Urban Company Limited has taken legal action against Kent RO Systems Limited following a defamation and disparagement suit filed in the Delhi High Court. The company initiated proceedings after advertisements launched by Kent RO made false and misleading claims concerning Urban Company’s NATIVE water purifiers.
The lawsuit stems from Kent RO's extensive advertising and social media campaign, which targeted the 2-year filter life and 2-year service life feature offered by Urban Company for its Native M0, M1, M2, M1 Pro, and M2 Pro water purifiers. Kent RO’s promotional material falsely claimed that this two-year feature was a "marketing gimmick" and suggested that using the NATIVE water purifiers was "unsafe" and "risky" for consumers.
The matter was heard by the Hon'ble Delhi High Court on August 12, 2026. Following detailed consideration of the case, Kent RO made a statement before the court agreeing to halt disparaging campaigns against Urban Company.
As per the court order issued on August 12, 2026, Kent RO is required to pull down all offending advertisements and social media content related to the suit. Furthermore, Kent RO must refrain from running any other advertisement or promotional material that makes similar claims regarding water purifiers offering a two-year filter life or a two-year no-servicing feature in a manner that disparages Urban Company. Kent RO has been given 15 days from August 12, 2026, to comply with this mandate. The court’s order was made public on August 22, 2026.
The lawsuit constitutes one of several outstanding matters between the two companies. Additionally, there is a patent infringement suit filed by Kent RO, which includes a counterclaim against Kent RO by Urban Company for tortious interference. These disputes remain sub-judice.
