Minister G. Kishan Reddy emphasized that critical minerals are no longer just industrial commodities but fundamental pillars of national security. Speaking at the roadshow for the 2nd round of Exploration License and the 7th round of Critical and Strategic Mineral Blocks auction in HICC, Hyderabad, he stressed the pivotal role these resources play. According to the Minister, every country’s future trajectory is increasingly dependent on reliable access to critical minerals.

Boosting Resource Security Amid Geopolitical Shifts

The current global climate, marked by significant geopolitical shifts and accelerating climate change, has amplified the urgency of resource independence. Minister Reddy pointed out that the need for securing these minerals is paramount for sustained economic growth. He noted that the government is strategically positioning India to dominate the global mineral supply chain.

Auction Progress Marks Sector Milestone

The central government has demonstrated massive commitment to monetizing India's mineral wealth through systematic auctions. In total, 46 critical mineral blocks have been successfully auctioned across the first six rounds. The momentum continues with the 7th round of auctions, where the process is currently being initiated for 19 blocks.

Furthermore, significant policy steps have been taken to boost accessibility. The government has completely scrapped import duties on 24 critical minerals, easing supply chain concerns for domestic industries. Locally, two blocks containing Vanadium and Titanium in Telangana are also ready for upcoming auction.

Global Outreach and Stakeholder Cooperation Key to Growth

India is adopting an aggressive approach to resource mapping, expanding beyond domestic boundaries. The central government is actively exploring mineral resources in major global economies, including Australia and Argentina.

To achieve its vision of becoming a global leader in the mineral sector, the Minister made a strong appeal to all stakeholders. He called for comprehensive cooperation from every individual involved in the supply chain. This collective effort is seen as vital to realizing India's potential as a powerhouse in critical mineral production and export.
