Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Program to Strengthen Preventive Oral Care in Schools

Chandigarh, February 23: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited has partnered with the Haryana government to roll out a large-scale oral health education initiative aimed at benefiting 57 million school children across the state.

The initiative will be implemented under the company’s flagship Bright Smiles, Bright Futures (BSBF) program, which currently reaches more than 10 million children annually across different states in India.

Focus on Preventive Oral Hygiene and Structured Learning

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that the collaboration is expected to promote preventive oral hygiene practices among students and contribute to their overall development.

The program will introduce structured, in-person learning sessions led by trained facilitators. These sessions will focus on proper brushing techniques, the importance of timely toothbrush replacement, nutrition guidance, and tobacco prevention awareness.

Every participating school will set up an Oral Health Board to reinforce daily hygiene practices. In addition, teachers will receive dedicated training modules to equip them with knowledge of basic oral health practices, enabling them to guide students effectively.

Take-Home Dental Kits and Family Participation

As part of the initiative, students will receive take-home dental kits and brushing calendars designed to encourage family involvement in maintaining oral hygiene habits.

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Managing Director and CEO Prabha Narasimhan said the partnership represents a transition from awareness-driven efforts to large-scale implementation by integrating preventive oral care into the state’s educational framework.

Shilpashree Muniswamappa, Director ESG and Communications at Colgate-Palmolive (India), emphasized that early preventive education can drive lasting behavioral change, with children serving as ambassadors of healthy habits within their families.

Expanding Impact Across India and Globally

According to the company, the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program has benefited more than 195 million children in India and over 2 billion children and their families worldwide since its inception.

With the Haryana partnership, Colgate-Palmolive (India) aims to further scale its outreach by embedding structured oral health education directly within school systems, reinforcing preventive care practices at an early age.
