
Castrol India Elevates Flagship Products to Full Synthetic Across Two- and Four-Wheeler Segments
Castrol India Limited, a prominent lubricant manufacturer, announced the addition of two new full synthetic products to its two- and four-wheeler engine oil range. This move establishes a new benchmark in the Indian lubricants market, positioning Castrol India as a segment disruptor by bringing full synthetic technology to mass segments.The company confirmed that both the Castrol Activ and Castrol GTX ranges are undergoing upgrades to full synthetic formulations across select viscosities.
Kaushik Vedula, VP Marketing at Castrol India Limited, highlighted that the changes reflect continuous tracking of evolving consumer needs and mobility patterns. He stated that the launch of Castrol Activ Full Synthetic for two-wheelers and the full synthetic upgrade for Castrol GTX in four-wheelers represents an important advancement in the company's portfolio, making the benefits of full synthetic technology more accessible to a wider user base.
He added, "By transitioning Castrol Activ and Castrol GTX to full synthetic, we are enabling stronger engine protection and more consistent performance in real world usage, making advanced engine care more accessible for Indian consumers."
Product Upgrades and Segment Focus
In the two-wheeler segment, Castrol India introduced Castrol Activ Full Synthetic 10W-30 and Castrol Activ Full Synthetic 5W-30 within the flagship Castrol Activ range, thereby enhancing its offerings for modern motorcycles. The existing viscosities, including 20W-40, will remain available. The new Castrol Activ range is stated to deliver a 20% improved protection across the engine, clutch, and gearbox, aimed at ensuring a smoother ride for daily commuters.The company noted that this launch aligns with consumer insights suggesting that younger riders prioritize riding quality and consistency in daily commutes, making attributes like quicker pickup, smoother acceleration, and reduced engine vibrations key purchase drivers beyond basic engine protection.
For the personal car segment, Castrol GTX 5W-30 was upgraded to Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 5W-30. Additionally, Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 0W-20 was introduced to strengthen the company's presence in the fast-growing low-viscosity segment. This new GTX full-synthetic line is designed to provide cleaner engine operation and better deposit control while offering enhanced value.
The full-synthetic nature of the GTX range supplements the existing premium offerings in Castrol's four-wheeler portfolio, which includes Castrol MAGNATEC, noted for delivering up to 50% better wear protection in SUVs, and Castrol EDGE, engineered for up to 30% improved on-demand performance. These products collectively support better engine performance and enhanced reliability under varied driving conditions and in response to evolving fuel requirements such as E20.
The new and upgraded products will be accessible across Castrol India's distribution network, which encompasses over 150,000 retail outlets nationwide, in addition to the company's online stores on Amazon and Flipkart.
The company, which is part of the bp group, has over an 115-year presence in India. Castrol offers a range of products including Castrol CRB, Castrol GTX, Castrol Activ, Castrol MAGNATEC, Castrol EDGE, Castrol POWER1, and Rustilo, serving sectors such as automotive, mining, machinery, and wind energy.
