CARBOGEN AMCIS Commissions Ground-Mounted Photovoltaic System at Neuland Site in Switzerland
CARBOGEN AMCIS AG., a pharmaceutical process development and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing company based in Switzerland, has successfully commissioned a new ground-mounted photovoltaic system at its Neuland site. This project underscores the subsidiary's commitment to sustainability and the expansion of renewable energy within its operations. The new solar power plant features a capacity of 1,200 kWp and comprises 2,448 photovoltaic modules installed over approximately 6,200 m² on company premises. The facility is noted as one of the most efficient conventional ground-mounted systems in the Swiss Mittelland, bringing its efficiency close to that of vertical alpine installations, especially given how rare such ground-mounted systems are in Switzerland.
CARBOGEN AMCIS is recognized as one of the few companies to build such a system on its own industrial site. The solar power generated will primarily be utilized for on-site consumption, helping the company sustainably reduce its CO₂ emissions.
The project was completed in collaboration with energy and infrastructure partners IWB (Industrielle Werke Basel) and its subsidiary Planeco, who were responsible for the facility's planning and implementation.
Stephan Fritschi, Chief Executive Officer of CARBOGEN AMCIS, stated that the commissioning of the photovoltaic system represents a targeted investment into a sustainable and future-oriented energy supply for their site. He added that the project is an important milestone in consistently implementing the company’s environmental goals.
The official opening ceremony took place following a three-month construction phase and included attendees such as Government Councilor Dieter Egli, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and Internal Affairs of the Canton of Aargau; Urs Wiederkehr, mayor of the municipality of Hunzenschwil; Florian Gautschi from the cantonal economic development agency, alongside representatives from IWB, Planeco, and the CARBOGEN AMCIS management team.
The new facility is integral to CARBOGEN AMCIS's sustainability strategy as the company aims to continuously improve its energy efficiency and steadily increase the share of renewable energy in its production processes.
CARBOGEN AMCIS AG. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited, offering drug development and commercialization services across all stages of clinical development and product life cycle to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.
