
BSE Net Profit Surges 62% as Revenue Rockets and Investment Income Climbs

India's oldest exchange, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Ltd, reported a robust quarter with strong growth across its key financial metrics. The company announced a consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders for the June quarter, marking a significant 62% year-on-year (YoY) increase. This stellar performance was driven by substantial growth in revenue from operations alongside higher investment income.For the quarter ended June 2026, BSE posted a profit attributable to shareholders of the holding company at ₹874 crore. This figure represents a marked increase compared to the ₹539 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue and Profit Metrics Surge Across the Board
BSE witnessed dramatic increases across its core revenue streams. Revenue from operations surged by 63%, climbing to ₹1,566 crore from ₹958 crore a year earlier. Investment income also saw sharp growth, rising to ₹135 crore from ₹79 crore in the prior period. Other income stood at ₹5 crore, compared to ₹7 crore during the same period last year.The company's profit before tax (PBT) rose by 66%, reaching ₹1,164 crore. This is a considerable jump from the ₹701 crore reported in Q1FY26 of the previous year. Profit before contribution to the core settlement guarantee fund stood impressively at ₹1,177 crore, which is up 72% from the ₹685 crore recorded a year ago.
Expenses and Tax Expenditure Analysis
While profits soared, BSE also managed expenses efficiently. Total expenses rose by 49%, totaling ₹537 crore, up from ₹359 crore in the same quarter last year. These rising costs were categorized across several critical areas.Technology expense saw a rise to ₹61 crore from ₹50 crore. Clearing and settlement expenses increased to ₹90 crore from ₹55 crore. Regulatory contribution rose notably to ₹193 crore, up significantly from ₹116 crore in the previous year. Employee benefit expenses were recorded at ₹87 crore, compared to ₹70 crore previously.
Tax Expense and Associate Profits
The company's financial stability was further reinforced by its tax expenditure. A total of ₹291 crore was booked as a tax expense for the quarter, up from ₹175 crore in the prior year. BSE also made a ₹26 crore contribution to the core settlement guarantee fund during this period.Profit before tax and share of profit of associates stood at ₹1,144 crore. These strong financial indicators underscore a period of significant operational success for India's oldest exchange. The impressive performance signals robust business activity within the market infrastructure sector.
