The contract involves executing various civil and railway engineering works on a Hybrid-EPC mode. The scope of work includes earthwork in formation and cutting, blanketing, the construction of RCC box, RCC and PCC drains, retaining walls and toe walls. Additionally, the project encompasses nine minor bridges, one Road Over Bridge (ROB), and extensive Railway Electrification works. These electrical works cover design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of Overhead Equipment (OHE), General Electrical works, and Signalling and Telecom works.The physical stretch designated for this contract runs from Kokrajhar station (excluding) to CH4.100, and from Salakati station (excluding) to CH-0.400.
Strategic Importance of the Win
This project is significant as it represents the starting chainage of the new rail link connecting Kokrajhar to Gelephu in the Kingdom of Bhutan. The corridor is part of a 69 km cross-border rail line, which was planned under an India-Bhutan inter-governmental MoU signed in September 2025, with a total announced project cost estimated at approximately ₹ 3,456 crore.By securing this initial package, the BIL-HBMCPL joint venture has established itself as the first contractor of record on the Kokrajhar-Gelephu corridor. This foothold positions the company for potential future projects that NFR-CONST is expected to float as the line progresses toward Gelephu.
