BPL Limited Receives Order from Debt Recovery Tribunal

BPL Limited announced on April 1, 2026, that it received an order from the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in Delhi. The order, dated January 19, 2026, pertains to a continuing event regarding a corporate guarantee.

According to the DRT order, BPL Limited acted as a corporate guarantor for a loan of Rs. 10 crore that its subsidiary, BPL Display Devices Limited (BDDL), availed in 2003. BDDL has been in liquidation since October 2008. The tribunal’s order allows ARCIL to invoke the guarantee and recover dues from BPL Limited.

BPL Limited received a copy of the DRT order on March 19, 2026. The company experienced a slight delay in reporting due to efforts to verify the order's authenticity.

Management and legal counsel believe the claim is time-barred, as it was lodged before the DRT in 2024. BPL Limited is exploring options to file an appeal before appropriate authorities to seek remedies. The company has previously included the guarantee under contingent liabilities in its balance sheets filed with stock exchanges. The potential impact on BPL Limited’s financial, operational, or other activities will be quantifiable in monetary terms as the matter progresses.
