Birla Corporation Subsidiary Expands Kundanganj Unit, Boosting Production Capacity

Kolkata, 23 March—RCCPL Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Birla Corporation Limited, has commissioned the third line of production at its Kundanganj grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh. This expansion increases the unit's production capacity by 1.4 million tons (mt).

Following the expansion, Birla Corporation Limited's consolidated production capacity now stands at 21.4 mt. The company previously announced plans to further expand its capacity to 27.6 mt by 2028-29. The Kundanganj expansion project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 300 crore.

The increased grinding capacity is expected to generate close to 100,000 direct and indirect jobs and strengthen Birla Corporation Limited's competitiveness in central and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Additional clinker will be sourced from the company's integrated units at Satna, Chanderia, and Mukutban.

Birla Corporation Limited is also investing in a 5-MW solar power plant at the Kundanganj facility, expected to be commissioned in the second quarter of the next fiscal year. This is projected to increase the share of renewable power in the unit's total power consumption from over 30% to around 40%. The company will receive investment-promotion incentives linked to Goods and Services Tax for 12 years for the capital expenditure at Kundanganj.

Birla Corporation Limited, the flagship company of the MP Birla Group, has an annual installed cement production capacity of 21.4 million tons across 10 plants in eight locations in India.
