Biocon Receives Marketing Approval for Pegfilgrastim Biosimilar from Japan's MHLW
Biocon Biologics Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Biocon Ltd., announced that it has received marketing approval in Japan for its pegfilgrastim biosimilar. The approval was granted by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).The product, a biosimilar to Neulasta®, is developed and manufactured by Biocon Biologics Ltd. The company, alongside its global entity Biocon Biologics UK PLC, is referred to collectively as 'Biocon'. Global Regulatory Partners Japan is serving as the Marketing Authorization Holder for the product on behalf of Biocon.
Sandoz K.K. has been designated as the exclusive partner responsible for the promotion, sale, and distribution of the biosimilar in the Japanese market.
The approval significantly strengthens Biocon's portfolio of biosimilar products in Japan. The achievement reaffirms the company's commitment to increasing patient access to affordable, high-quality medications globally.
