Bharti Hexacom Ltd. Receives Penalty Notice Regarding Subscriber Verification
Mumbai – March 28, 2026 – Bharti Hexacom Ltd. announced today that it received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications, North East LSA (DoT), imposing a penalty of Rs. 264,000. The penalty is related to alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.The notice, received on March 27, 2026, stems from a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted by DoT for the quarter ending December 2025. The DoT stated that Bharti Hexacom is obligated to verify customers adequately before enrollment, aligning with the License Agreement and DoT instructions.
According to the notice, the alleged violation concerns terms and conditions related to subscriber verification. The potential financial impact is limited to the amount of the levied penalty. Bharti Hexacom notes that the penalty rate is currently under review by the Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
