Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regarding a violation of subscriber verification norms. The authority identified the discrepancy during a periodic Customer Application Form Audit (CAF Audit) conducted for the month of April 2026.

Under the terms of its license agreement, Bharti Airtel is required to ensure thorough verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers and must adhere to all instructions issued by the Department of Telecommunications in this regard. The audit revealed that the company allegedly failed to comply with specific verification norms established under the License Agreement.

The DoT imposed a penalty of Rs. 6,59,000 in connection with these findings. The company has stated that the maximum financial impact resulting from this matter is limited to the amount of the penalty levied.

In response to the communication received on July 16, 2026, Bharti Airtel has decided to pay the penalty and will not contest the order.
