
New Breweries, Aluminium Can Plants and Glass Units Planned Across State
New Delhi, February 22: The brewing industry is set to invest around Rs 5,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the next three years, marking a significant expansion push in the state. The announcement was made by the Brewers' Association of India, which described the move as a major commitment to strengthening the beer manufacturing ecosystem in the region.The industry body stated that the beer sector is making a big bet on Uttar Pradesh, citing the state government’s newly announced excise policy as a key enabler. The policy has been described as progressive and structured with a well-balanced approach aimed at supporting industry growth.
Two New Breweries Already Underway
According to BAI Director General Vinod Giri, work on two new breweries is already in progress. These projects involve an estimated investment of around Rs 1,500 crore and are expected to enhance production capacity within the state.The upcoming breweries form a crucial part of the broader investment pipeline, which spans manufacturing and allied segments linked to the beer value chain.
Aluminium Can and Glass Manufacturing Units in Pipeline
In addition to brewing facilities, the investment plan includes two major aluminium can production plants. These projects are expected to require an outlay of approximately Rs 2,000 crore.Further strengthening the supply ecosystem, a few glass production units worth Rs 2,000 crore are also slated to be set up soon. These units will cater to packaging requirements, supporting both the brewing industry and its associated businesses.
Industry Backs New Excise Policy
Welcoming the state’s new excise framework, the Brewers' Association of India emphasized that the policy offers clarity and balance, encouraging long-term capital deployment. The industry body said the policy environment has played a central role in driving confidence among investors and manufacturers.With investments spanning breweries, aluminium can manufacturing, and glass production, the proposed Rs 5,500 crore outlay signals a coordinated expansion across multiple segments of the beer industry in Uttar Pradesh over the next three years.
