Ambrane Targets 20 Lakh Units of Solid State Power Banks as India Embraces Next-Gen Tech

Ambrane Signals Major Bet on Solid State Battery Adoption in India

Electronics gadget maker Ambrane has announced ambitious plans to significantly scale up its production of solid state battery-based power banks. A top company official revealed that Ambrane aims to reach a capacity of 20 lakh units over the next two to three years.

This move positions the company as a key innovator in the domestic market. Ambrane claims it will be the first entity to introduce solid state batteries for power banks in India. This advanced technology is notably the same core technology utilized in electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Scaling Production Capacity in Key Technology Segment

Currently, Ambrane manufactures approximately 2.5 million power bank units annually. The management has delineated a clear, staged expansion roadmap for this high-potential segment.

Ashok Rajpal, the Managing Director of Ambrane, stated that the company aims to manufacture 1 million Solid State Battery (SSB) power banks within the next one to two years. Following this initial growth phase, the production is slated to scale further to 2 million units in the subsequent two to three years.

Rajpal further highlighted that this planned SSB output of 2 million units will constitute 80 per cent of Ambrane's total planned production capacity at that time.

Addressing Indian Environmental Challenges with Advanced Technology

The core differentiator of this expansion lies in the technology itself. The semi-solid battery design has been specifically engineered to perform optimally within Indian environmental conditions.

The technology directly tackles performance challenges posed by high temperatures and humidity, factors that can typically degrade standard device performance.

Rajpal emphasized that the solid state battery technology offers robust advantages proven in the electric mobility sector. These benefits include enhanced safety, non-flammability, and superior efficiency. This next-generation battery capability is now being strategically incorporated into consumer electronics.
