
12-Storey Campus to House Over 7,000 Employees Across Key Business Functions
New Delhi, February 23: Amazon on Monday announced the opening of its second largest office in Asia, located in Bengaluru, further deepening its long term commitment to India.The newly inaugurated 12 storey campus spans 1.1 million square feet and will accommodate more than 7,000 employees. The facility will support teams across e commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services in India, the company said in a statement.
Karnataka Government Welcomes Expansion
Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, inaugurated the campus and said Amazon’s continued investment reflects India’s growing role as a global technology and innovation hub.He stated that large scale campuses such as this create high quality jobs, strengthen the local ecosystem, and support the expansion of India’s digital economy. The minister added that the state welcomes investments that build long term capabilities and create opportunities for the workforce.
Part of $40 Billion India Investment Strategy
The new Bengaluru campus forms part of Amazon’s broader investment strategy in India. The company has already invested over 40 billion dollars in the country and has committed an additional 35 billion dollars in investments by 2030.Located approximately 15 kilometers from Kempegowda International Airport, the corporate building has been designed to bring teams together at scale while enabling collaboration, flexibility, learning, and employee wellbeing.
Bengaluru Remains a Key Innovation Hub for Amazon
Samir Kumar, Country Manager of Amazon India, said Bengaluru has been home to some of the company’s earliest technology and business teams and continues to serve as a key hub for innovation and talent.The campus integrates adaptable workspaces and collaborative zones arranged into self sustaining neighborhoods. It features meeting rooms, huddle spaces, breakout areas, and event spaces capable of hosting more than 200 people.
Focus on Employee Experience and Sustainability
Employees at the new facility have access to recreation amenities including basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheater, landscaped lawns, and outdoor community spaces. Cafeterias spread across two floors offer a variety of global cuisines.The project also incorporates sustainability strategies such as responsible material sourcing, reuse of office assets, and deployment of high efficiency systems aimed at reducing embodied and operational carbon.
With this new campus, Amazon strengthens its operational footprint in Bengaluru while reinforcing India’s position in its global technology and innovation roadmap.
