Alkyl Amines Shares in Focus as Ammonia Shortage Forces Production Halt at Key Plants

West Asia Conflict Disrupts Supply Chains, Impacts Key Raw Material Availability

Shares of Alkyl Amines Chemicals Ltd. are set to remain in focus on Tuesday, March 17, after the company informed stock exchanges that the ongoing geopolitical conflict in West Asia has disrupted global logistics networks and supply chains for crude oil and petrochemicals.

The disruption has also affected the availability of liquefied natural gas, a crucial input in ammonia production, creating a ripple effect across the chemical manufacturing ecosystem.

Ammonia Supply Hit as Manufacturers Invoke Force Majeure

According to the company, several ammonia manufacturers have declared force majeure, citing their inability to supply the product amid the ongoing supply constraints.

This has led to significant challenges for Alkyl Amines in securing ammonia, a critical raw material used in the production of methylamines, ethylamines, and their derivatives.

Production Suspended at Three Manufacturing Facilities

In response to the shortage, the company has temporarily suspended production of ammonia-dependent products at its Patalganga, Kurkumbh, and Dahej facilities.

However, operations for products that do not require ammonia as an input continue to run normally across these plants.

Financial Impact Remains Uncertain

Alkyl Amines stated that the financial and operational impact of the force majeure event cannot be assessed at this stage due to the evolving nature of the situation.

The company added that it is actively monitoring developments and exploring alternative sourcing arrangements for ammonia. It also assured that any material updates will be communicated to stock exchanges.

Stock Performance

Shares of Alkyl Amines Chemicals closed 1.36 percent lower on Monday at ₹1,261. The stock has declined by more than 18 percent over the past month.
