
Meetings With GIC and DBS Highlight Investment Push
Singapore, February 23: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held key meetings with leading Singaporean government-linked institutions on Monday, seeking sovereign and institutional investment in high-growth sectors across the state.The Chief Minister arrived in Singapore earlier in the day and engaged with senior representatives of global investment entities to explore long-term partnerships. The discussions centred on attracting sovereign investment participation in Uttar Pradesh across data centres, logistics hubs, renewable energy, and industrial infrastructure.
Highlighting the state’s investor-friendly policy framework, he underscored fast-track clearances and facilitation mechanisms designed to support global investors.
In a post on X, Adityanath said he had a productive meeting with Lim Chow Kiat, Chief Executive Officer of Government Investment Corporation, along with his delegation.
He noted that both sides explored avenues for long-term institutional investments in infrastructure, logistics, industrial parks, and sustainable urban development projects in Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged GIC’s existing partnerships in the state, including its association with IRB in the Ganga Expressway project and collaboration with Greenko.
In a separate engagement, Adityanath met Tan Su Shan, Chief Executive Officer of DBS Group, along with the bank’s senior leadership team.
The discussions focused on strengthening financial cooperation, facilitating project financing, and supporting investment flows into infrastructure and other growth sectors in Uttar Pradesh.
DBS operates a wholly-owned subsidiary in India and is among the leading Singaporean business groups active in the country.
Visit Aligned With India-Singapore Strategic Roadmap
The Chief Minister stated that his February 23 to 24 visit aligns with the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Roadmap. The roadmap identifies priority areas including economic cooperation, digitalisation, skills development, sustainability, connectivity, and advanced manufacturing.
As part of his official engagements, Adityanath is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Singapore’s political leadership, including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science and Technology Tan See Leng, and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
The programme also includes interactions with leading sovereign and institutional investors such as Temasek and GIC, alongside business leaders from sectors including data infrastructure, logistics, aviation services, financial services, and advanced manufacturing.
Engagement With Indian Diaspora
On Monday evening, the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet members of the Indian diaspora at One World International School. A cultural programme is expected to welcome him, followed by interactions with people of Indian origin and members of the Singaporean community whose ancestors trace their roots to Uttar Pradesh.
The visit underscores Uttar Pradesh’s outreach to global capital and its focus on building international partnerships to support infrastructure expansion and economic growth.
