US-Iran Nuclear Talks Advance Without Breakthrough

US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with Iran’s position as negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program continued this week. Speaking to reporters before departing for Texas, Trump reiterated that while he wants to reach an agreement, Iran cannot be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.

The talks have unfolded against the backdrop of a significant US military buildup across the Middle East. Despite the heightened security posture, Trump stated that he does not want to use military force against Iran, though he added that such action is sometimes necessary.

Diplomatic engagement is ongoing. Oman’s foreign minister traveled to Washington on Friday to discuss the issue with US Vice President JD Vance, according to a source familiar with the matter. Oman has played a mediating role in facilitating indirect dialogue between the two sides.

Growing Military Presence Raises Stakes

The United States has increased its military presence in the region in preparation for a possible strike on Iran. The buildup comes as negotiations over Iran’s nuclear ambitions continue without any visible breakthrough.

The absence of tangible progress has intensified regional uncertainty, with governments closely monitoring developments. The heightened tensions have prompted several countries to reassess their diplomatic and security posture in the region.

Italy and Britain Issue Travel and Diplomatic Warnings

Italy urged its citizens to leave Iran on Friday, citing persistently unstable security conditions. In a statement, Italy’s foreign ministry advised that Italians visiting for tourism or whose presence is not strictly necessary should depart. Travel to Iraq and Lebanon was also strongly discouraged.

Italian nationals in Israel were advised to exercise maximum caution and remain vigilant.

Britain also announced that it had temporarily withdrawn its staff from Iran and closed its embassy amid rising regional tensions.

Several governments have issued similar advisories in recent days as uncertainty surrounding the Iran nuclear talks and US military positioning continues to shape the geopolitical landscape across the Middle East.
