SKM Egg Products Reports No Bird Flu Incidents at Tamil Nadu Poultry Farms​

SKM Egg Products Export (India) Limited has confirmed there are currently no incidences of bird flu within its poultry farms. The company emphasized that all egg production is exclusively managed in Tamil Nadu, noting that it does not have operations in Kerala, an area where avian influenza cases were previously reported.

The company affirmed its status as a poultry farm recognized by the Government of India as an avian influenza-free compartment farm. Continuous and rigorous surveillance is maintained for the birds to prevent avian influenza, Newcastle disease, and salmonella.

To bolster preventive safeguards, the company has taken several steps on its premises. Chain-link systems have been installed around bird waste areas to block access from wild birds, which are identified as a source of infection. Furthermore, there are no fruit-bearing trees or vegetation within the farm premises that could attract wild birds.

Biosecurity protocols remain strictly enforced across the facility. Entry for external visitors is currently restricted, and internal employee movement is tightly controlled. This control mandates mandatory biosecurity practices, including showering and the use of dedicated uniforms and footwear when moving between sheds.

The firm also noted that authorities in Tamil Nadu are sustaining intensified surveillance, particularly in border districts, to prevent any spread of the disease. Enhanced monitoring systems and preventive measures, as directed by the Animal Husbandry Department, remain in place.

The company stated that the health condition of its layer birds remains stable and healthy, ensuring that egg production activities continue without operational disruptions or threats.

SKM Egg Products Export (India) Limited plans to continue closely monitoring the situation and implementing necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety and continuity of its operations.
