Auto component major Samvardhana Motherson International has commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, dedicated to producing exterior lighting systems for the automotive segment.
The newly operational plant has been established as a joint venture with Marelli and will exclusively manufacture advanced exterior lighting systems, marking a strategic expansion of the group’s automotive component portfolio.
Joint Venture with Marelli to Strengthen Automotive Capabilities
The Sanand facility represents a focused investment aimed at enhancing the company’s technological and production capabilities in the fast-evolving automotive lighting space.“This strategic investment strengthens our ability to deliver advanced, future-ready lighting solutions while meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” said Motherson Vice Chairman Laksh Vaaman Sehgal in a statement.
The partnership brings together global innovation and local manufacturing expertise. Frank Huber, President of Marelli’s Lighting business, said that alongside Motherson, the company is combining its global capabilities with strong domestic manufacturing to deliver cutting-edge lighting solutions tailored for the Indian market.

The plant will exclusively produce state-of-the-art exterior lighting systems, reinforcing the group’s position in the automotive components industry.
