Seoul, March 1: Samsung Electronics announced on Sunday that it will convert its domestic and overseas production facilities into AI-driven factories by 2030, marking a significant step in its long term manufacturing innovation strategy.The company plans to integrate digital twin-based simulations across the entire manufacturing cycle, covering material warehousing, production, and shipment. Alongside this, Samsung will deploy dedicated AI agents focused on quality control, production management, and logistics to enhance data-driven analysis and verification systems across operations.
Digital Twin and Agentic AI to Redefine Production Systems
According to the company, the implementation of digital twin technology will enable real-time simulations of factory processes, helping improve both quality and productivity. Samsung also stated that broader applications of artificial intelligence in environmental health and safety management will support stronger workplace safety standards.Building on its AI expertise from its mobile business division, Samsung said it will introduce agentic AI into manufacturing systems. The technology, first introduced with the Galaxy S26 series, refers to AI systems capable of independently setting objectives and executing plans to achieve defined goals.
The company is also progressing toward phased deployment of humanoid manufacturing robots across its production lines, aiming to build optimized smart factories that function with higher autonomy and precision.
A senior company official, Lee Young-soo, stated that the future of manufacturing innovation lies not only in automation but in autonomous production environments where AI understands on-site conditions and makes optimal decisions independently. He added that Samsung aims to become a global leader in AI-powered manufacturing innovation.
Samsung to Showcase Industrial AI Strategy at MWC 2026
Samsung plans to unveil its industrial AI strategy and digital twin-based manufacturing vision at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona this month.During the Samsung Mobile Business Summit, which will be held alongside the event, the company will also present its governance framework designed to strengthen oversight as agentic AI expands across industries.
Galaxy S26 Series Unveiled with Advanced AI Capabilities
Separately, Samsung introduced its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S26 lineup, featuring enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities and a built-in privacy display on the Ultra model.The South Korean technology giant showcased three models at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in San Francisco: the Galaxy S26 with a 6.3-inch display, the Galaxy S26+ with a 6.7-inch display, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra featuring a 6.9-inch display.
With its dual focus on AI-driven manufacturing transformation and next generation AI-enabled smartphones, Samsung is positioning itself at the forefront of both industrial and consumer technology innovation.
