PM Modi Inaugurates Kaynes Semicon OSAT Facility, Boosting Semiconductor Ecosystem for Trident Techlabs

Trident Techlabs Limited announced that the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kaynes Semicon OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, on March 31, 2026. This development, part of the India Semiconductor Mission, represents a substantial investment of Rs. 3,300 crore and has begun commercial production with a capacity of approximately 6.3 million semiconductor chips per day.

Trident Techlabs' subsidiary, Techlabs Semiconductor Private Limited, holds a strategic partnership with Kaynes Semicon Private Limited. This collaboration aims to deliver comprehensive semiconductor solutions, bridging the gap from initial design through to final production. The partnership combines Techlabs Semiconductor's expertise in semiconductor and system design services with Kaynes Semicon's advanced manufacturing infrastructure.

During the inauguration, the Prime Minister remarked that the rapid development of India's semiconductor ecosystem serves as proof of the nation's speed and velocity. He stated that Indian companies, through global collaboration, are positioned to provide the world with a resilient semiconductor supply chain.

Strategic Impact on Trident Techlabs

The facility's capabilities significantly enhance Trident Techlabs' operational scope. Techlabs Semiconductor's core competencies, which include ASIC design, SoC development, FPGA implementation, and system-level design, can now be integrated with Kaynes Semicon's advanced packaging, assembly, and testing infrastructure. This integration enables the company to offer clients a complete semiconductor solution entirely within India, from the initial architecture design to volume production.

This development directly aligns with Trident Techlabs' target verticals and the facility's focus areas, which include Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) for electric vehicles, industrial automation, and energy-efficient appliances. Furthermore, the partnership grants access to global semiconductor supply chains, particularly as production is already committed to international clients.

Industry Landscape Update

The broader context of India's semiconductor market was highlighted. The Prime Minister mentioned that India's semiconductor market currently estimates at approximately USD 50 billion and is projected to surpass USD 100 billion by the end of this decade. Additionally, the India Semiconductor Mission has 10 ongoing projects valued over Rs. 1,60,000 crore across six states. The Sanand facility marks the second major semiconductor project to become operational in the Sanand GIDC cluster, following the inauguration of Micron Technology's facility in February 2026.

Trident Techlabs Limited (NSE: TECHLABS) operates as a technology company providing engineering solutions, power systems, and semiconductor design services. Through Techlabs Semiconductor Private Limited, the company serves clients in the defense, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics sectors with ASIC, SoC, and FPGA design services.
