
Government Assures Adequate LPG, Petrol, and Diesel Supply Amid Geopolitical Concerns
New Delhi, March 25, 2026 – The government has confirmed that LPG, petrol, and diesel supplies are sufficientnationwide and urged citizens not to panic buy.Key updates from the inter-ministerial briefing include:
- LPG Supply: Normal domestic LPG cylinder distribution continues. Partial commercial LPG supply of up to 20% has been restored, with an additional 10% allocation proposed under PNG expansion reforms. Citizens are encouraged to use digital modes for bookings.
- Petrol and Diesel: All refineries are operating at full capacity, maintaining adequate stocks for normal consumption. Retail outlets are functioning normally across the country.
- Alternative Energy Usage: Due to the ongoing geopolitical situation, citizens are advised to use PNG, electric, or induction cooktops and conserve energy.
- Enforcement Actions: Over 2,700 raids were conducted across States including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, seizing around 2,000 LPG cylinders. PSU oil marketing companies (OMCs) carried out 1,700+ surprise inspections, resulting in 155 arrests and over 650 FIRs to curb hoarding and black marketing.
- Priority Supply: 100% supply is being ensured for PNG for cooking and CNG for vehicles, while industrial and commercial PNG users are receiving approximately 80% of average consumption. CGD entities such as IGL, MGL, GAIL Gas, and BPCL are providing incentives for domestic and commercial PNG connections.
- Kerosene Allocation: An additional 48,000 KL of kerosene has been allocated to all States and UTs, with district-level distribution points being identified.
This coordinated effort ensures energy security for households, businesses, and essential services while maintaining supply continuity during geopolitical uncertainties.
