Celebrating 11 Years of Financial Empowerment Through Mudra Yojana

On the 11th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah highlighted the scheme's transformative role in India’s economic landscape. Shah emphasized how the government, led by Shri Narendra Modi, has successfully powered small traders and startups. The core mechanism lauded is the provision of collateral-free loans, directly energizing the sectors of self-employment and small industries.

The Minister stated that the scheme has provided new strength to the backbone of the Indian economy. This initiative underscores a major governmental push towards fostering grassroots entrepreneurship nationwide.

Scale of Impact: Reaching Millions Through Zero-Collateral Loans

The sheer scale of the financial outlay managed through the scheme is immense. Over the past 11 years, the welfare program has disbursed an aggregate of 58 crore loans. These facilities represent a total value exceeding ₹40 lakh crore.

This robust disbursement record speaks volumes about the trust placed in the lending mechanism. The funds are directly channelled to micro-enterprises and budding ventures, proving the efficacy of non-collateral dependent financing models.

Fueling Self-Reliance and Youth Momentum

The benefits of this financial accessibility have reached a massive beneficiary base. A notable achievement highlighted is the direct benefit accrued by 12 crore youth. This large-scale participation is cited as providing significant momentum toward achieving a self-reliant India.

The focus on empowering young entrepreneurs positions the Mudra Yojana as a critical facilitator of job creation. It directly addresses the needs of the nascent startup ecosystem and traditional small-scale vendors.

Historic Achievement in Women's Economic Empowerment

Perhaps the most significant metric noted is the impact on women's financial independence. Shri Amit Shah pointed out that a historic milestone has been reached regarding gender parity in lending. Specifically, 2 out of every 3 Mudra loans have been successfully allocated to women beneficiaries.

This ratio is recognized as a landmark achievement, significantly boosting women's empowerment and enhancing their stake in the nation's self-reliance journey. The data confirms the program's deep commitment to inclusive growth targeting women entrepreneurs.
