Chhattisgarh Caps Commercial LPG Supply Amid Supply Concerns

Raipur, March 26 – The Chhattisgarh government has implemented measures to manage LPG supply following concerns related to the West Asia conflict. A cap has been placed on the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, with a directive for streamlined online refill booking for domestic consumers.

Supply Restrictions and Prioritization

The state government has capped commercial LPG cylinder supplies at 20 percent of the previous month’s consumption. Officials stated that priority categories for LPG supply have been identified, including educational institutions, hospitals, military and paramilitary camps, jails, hotels, social welfare institutions, railway and airport canteens, government offices, guest houses, animal feed units, and restaurants.

Operational Changes

A review meeting, chaired by the state’s food department secretary Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, was held on Wednesday to assess LPG availability and distribution. Key decisions included:
  • Commercial LPG consumers will receive a maximum of 20 percent of their total consumption from the previous month.
  • Online LPG refill booking facilities will be available within 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas.
  • District administrations have been instructed to ensure security arrangements at LPG distributor offices and warehouses.
  • Distributors have been directed to maintain active telephone lines and promptly address consumer complaints.
  • Oil companies will conduct daily reviews of commercial LPG stock and distribution, sharing updates with the department.

Attendees
