LPG Booking Timelines Remain Unchanged, Government Says

Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Responds to Misinformation

New Delhi – The government on Wednesday dismissed reports claiming changes in LPG refill booking timelines, describing them as misleading and unfounded. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) issued a statement clarifying that no revisions have been made to the existing refill booking norms for LPG connections.

The ministry responded to media reports and social media posts that falsely claimed refill booking timelines had been altered. Specifically, these reports alleged a 45-day timeline for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, 25 days for non-PMUY single-cylinder users, and 35 days for non-PMUY double-cylinder consumers.

“No such changes have been made,” the official statement confirmed. It reiterated that the current timelines remain unchanged, with refills available for booking after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, regardless of the connection type.

The government urged citizens to avoid believing or spreading misinformation regarding LPG refills and to refrain from unnecessary booking. It assured the public that adequate LPG stocks are available nationwide and that there is no cause for concern.

Furthermore, the government highlighted that all domestic refineries are operating at high capacity and that domestic LPG production has increased. Petrol and diesel stocks remain sufficient across the country.

BPCL, a state-owned PSU firm, also addressed rumours of petrol and diesel shortages, stating that these claims are completely unfounded. India is currently a net exporter of petrol and diesel.

To manage potential economic impacts, the Centre has constituted seven empowered groups of officials and experts to address the fallout of the Iran war on sectors including oil, gas, fertilisers, supply chains, and inflation.
