India Plans 50 Inbound Flights From West Asia on Monday Amid Iran War Disruptions

Airlines Prepare Operations From Key Gulf Airports

New Delhi, March 9: Indian airlines have scheduled 50 inbound flights from airports across West Asia on Monday as authorities monitor the ongoing disruption caused by the Iran war. The planned operations remain subject to operational feasibility and prevailing conditions in the region.

Flights are expected to operate from major regional hubs including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, and Jeddah. Carriers involved in these operations include Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa.

Government Monitoring Situation Affecting Air Travel

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said it is closely tracking developments in West Asia, where the conflict has begun to affect air travel between India and the region. Airlines are adjusting their operations to maintain passenger safety and ensure the orderly functioning of flight services.

According to the ministry, airlines are making necessary operational changes based on prevailing conditions.

Passenger Movement Data From Recent Flights

Recent passenger data highlights the scale of ongoing travel between India and West Asia. On March 7, a total of 51 inbound flights operated by Indian carriers arrived in India from airports in the region, carrying 8,175 passengers.

On March 8, Indian airlines had planned 49 inbound flights from West Asian airports.

Authorities said carriers are also evaluating conditions at additional airports in the region, which may allow more flights to operate if the situation permits.

Government Monitoring Airfares and Coordination With Airlines

The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that it remains in continuous coordination with airlines and other stakeholders to manage the evolving situation.

Officials are also monitoring airfares to ensure ticket prices remain reasonable and to prevent any undue surge during this period of uncertainty.

Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules as the situation continues to evolve.

Air India Announces Additional International Flights

Separately, Air India has announced plans to operate 78 additional flights between March 10 and March 18, 2026, to support passengers affected by travel disruptions linked to the situation in West Asia.

The airline will deploy extra capacity on nine routes connecting India with major global destinations including New York (JFK), London (Heathrow), Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Colombo, and Malé.

These additional services will add 17,660 seats across the routes in both directions.

Among the key routes included in the expansion are Delhi to New York (JFK), Delhi to London (Heathrow), and Mumbai to London (Heathrow). Additional flights will also operate from Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Malé, and Colombo to Delhi as airlines work to boost available travel capacity while options remain constrained.
