
Gujarat to Add 50,000 PNG Connections in 10 Days Following PM Modi’s Appeal

Gandhinagar, March 28 – Gujarat plans to provide over 50,000 new piped natural gas (PNG) connections across the state within the next 10 days, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to expand such services, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said on Saturday.In the past 10 days, more than 12,000 new residential PNG connections and over 300 commercial PNG connections have already been installed.
High-Level Meeting Reviews Supply of Essential Commodities
Following PM Modi’s video conference with state leaders on petrol, diesel, gas, fertilizers, and food grain supplies amid global challenges, a high-level meeting was held in Gandhinagar under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.The meeting focused on stock levels, distribution systems, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential commodities throughout the state.
Priority Given to Residential Areas, Institutions, and Hospitals
The Chief Minister directed all departments to work in coordination to implement the Union government’s guidelines on prioritizing PNG connections. New connections are being focused on residential complexes, educational institutions, and hospitals to maximize public benefit.Gujarat Leads in PNG and CNG Infrastructure
Gujarat accounts for 23% of India’s PNG connections and 12% of the country’s CNG filling stations. The state has 12.8 crore domestic LPG connections and continues to coordinate with oil and gas companies to maintain uninterrupted supply.A dedicated helpline has resolved over 10,000 LPG-related complaints so far, while authorities are actively monitoring and acting against hoarding and black marketing of fuel and gas.
Fertilizer Supply and Agriculture Support
The state has sufficient fertilizer stock for the upcoming Kharif season. The Agriculture Department has ensured that farmers will face no shortages, while port operations are being closely monitored to prevent congestion from disrupting supply chains.Coordination Committees to Maintain Smooth Supply
Gujarat has established a state-level coordination committee under the Chief Secretary and district-level committees under collectors to liaise with the Centre and ensure smooth supply chain operations across districts.Measures Against Rumors and Black Marketing
